One of the most interesting aspects in the Fable Road is the diversity of its races.
Here is a brief introduction to each and every one of them:
1). Human beings or Humankind= Makes up the largest chunk of the population, humans are generally the most hardy of the beings. They commonly reside at Lenaria or North and South Nirvana, covering most of the land after pushing out the Wiken during the Wiken-Human wars. While they could learn magic, most humans are naturally incapable of anything of that sort when they are born. They are the most technologically advanced.
2). Wiken= The racial outcasts, these creatures are seemingly human-like, but for a few peculiar qualities. Under the Wiken are the elvenkind, the humanoids (something between animalkind and humankind), the dwarvenkind, and others. Wiken are usually endowed with special traits or with magic. They reside mostly in the Wiken Lands, since they are treated as second-class citizens in places where there are more human folks. The rarest among the wiken are Syrens or Merkind- they are thought to be entirely wiped out in the Wiken-Human wars.
3). Animals or Animakind= Here are the creatures we would commonly describe as an "animal" in the plane of existence called Earth. Included under Animalkind are dragons, pegasi, and unicorns. Some human beings have mastered the skills required to catch and tame animals, while some wiken share an affinity with them. Both former and latter keep them occasionally as pets. Dragons, pegasi, unicorns and other types of more magically-attuned animals are exceedingly rare, and any chances of taming them are near nil.*
*Yes, you can make Animalkind OCs. However, please refrain from making a human or wiken character who has a dragon, pegasi, etc. as a pet while having extreme god-like skills. If you submit such an application, I would immediately return it to you for revision! Save yourself from the hassle.
Northern Nirvana is really traditional. They look really old East Asian, think pagodas, dojos, old Chinese houses.
Southern Nirvana is kinda futuristic. Think of a more technologically advanced Shibuya/Harajuku/New York looking area. People on skyboards, airblimps, that kind of thing.
Wiken Territory feels like Tree-houses and all those architecture that may be attributed to Elves.
Lenaria is your medieval area. Gothic castles, renaissance. Think early Europe. If you play games like Ragnarok, maybe it's something like Prontera.
Their society is structured in this manner:
Northern Nirvana people are traditionalists. They are extremely Orthodox and dress up in those traditional East Asian clothes. The government is that of a monarchial autocracy. It is ruled by an Emperor (make a character) and the rest of the royal family. Purely human, will probably kick out Wiken people. Some animals are glorified.
Southern Nirvana separated from the North early on. It is democratic, futuristic, and geared towards societal progress. The South has a bad relation with the North, but plastic diplomacy is still maintained between both sides. While the South expresses the desire for liberalism, they treat Wiken as second class citizens due to the essential differences between magic and technology.
Wiken Territory is the land of all elven, dwarven, mer-types, and all peculiar half-animal half-human races. They are the minorities of the fable isles. Wiken Territory is mostly run by natural power. Most Wikens could practice magic. It is the most naturally attuned place in the planet. However, humankind are not allowed to enter the Wiken territory without an ID. Wiken Territory maintains an unstable relationship with both Nirvanas, and an amicable one with Lenaria.
Lenaria is generally the most accepting land of all. Many Lenarians are adventurers and merchants. While Lenaria is also run by a monarchy, it does not share in the authoritarianism of Northern Nirvana. It is a constitutional monarchy, and the office of government and the home of the royal family are both found in the Castle of Lenaria. Surprisingly, Lenaria is also the most religious state- the greatest religious sect finds their center in Lenaria's Church. Lenaria also has the oddest mix of people- the population being so greatly diverse, and the immigration being so horribly welcoming.
